I have never been one to believe in the saying “When your not looking for someone you find someone” or something like that. Nor did I believe the saying “Opposites attract”, until recently. Probably because I had the worst luck with relationships possible. Countless times I was lied to, cheated on, or just unappreciated.
I never thought about dating my best guy friend. We were definitely complete opposites. I am your typical southern sorority girl who dreams of having most everything monogrammed, a loving of Lilly, but who isn’t afraid to go muddin or huntin. He, on the other hand, is your typical southern boy. He works hard for his money, drives a lifted truck, and loves shooting guns. Like I said before we had been best friends for such a long time and I knew we were opposite so I never imagined dating him.
But it just kind of happened. We were hanging out on New Years Eve and he kept calling me babe and I of course didnt think anything of it. Sadly I didnt get a New Years kiss instead he taught me how to shoot a pistol. I figured it was a better trade anyways. After that we continued to hang out and text a lot more. He took me shooting for my birthday and cooked me dinner. Then I knew I started to like him, and he already knew he liked me. Finally he made it offical and I couldnt have been any happier. My family already loved him and knew how great of a guy he was. My sister is probably the hardest to get an approval from. He had no problem getting it from her so I instantly knew something good was going to come of this. I decided that I was going to do soemthing I had never done before, introduce him to my Aunt, Uncle and their four kids. Just like that they loved him. He does things I had only dreamed about for my boyfriends in the past do for me. I had always wanted to get my whole families approval on a boy because they mean the world to me.
If you take anything away from this story I hope that its this:
Dont settle for less than what you deserve.
The right person will definitely give you the world.
Dont always stick to “your type”. Usually the best person isn’t actually your type.
and finally God will send you the right person at the right time.
